The Erie County chapter of SCOPE, a statewide 2nd Amendment defense organization, tells 7 Eyewitness News U.S. Representative Chris Collins has jumped on board with their legislation to repeal the SAFE Act.

An attorney for the organization says the Second Amendment Guarantee Act being proposed by SCOPE would repeal New York's SAFE Act under the 14th Amendment enforcement clause.

According to Collins' office, the representative is working on legislation to protect gun rights of all New Yorkers, but no legislation has yet been introduced. A spokesperson would not say whether the legislation would go so far as to nullify the SAFE Act.
