New additions to "Move Over" law

New York State's "Move Over" Law expands on January 17th to include volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers who have vehicles with flashing blue or green lights.

The current law requires drivers to slow down and use caution when approaching an emergency vehicle with red and/or white emergency lighting. On highways with multiple lanes, drivers must move from the lane immediately next to the emergency or hazard vehicle, unless traffic prevents the driver from doing this safely.

The new changes to the law will add vehicles with flashing blue and green lights to this list of protections.
