Celebrating America's independence is the normal protocol for July 4th, but this year, preserving America's history becomes dually important. The Liberty Hound is donating one dollar for each Thin Man "Don't Give Up the Ship" Pilsner or Liberty Mule house cocktail sold towards a campaign to fund the repair of the U.S.S.  The Sullivans.

"The Sullivans and the Little Rock is an important part of Buffalo's waterfront and it’s important to veterans and our customers and people that are coming down so it’s an easy way to support a good cause," Liberty Hound owner, Jason Davidson said.

The U.S.S. The Sullivans has a crack in the hull and is currently sinking. Bilge pumps are currently removing water from inside the ship, but that's only a temporary fix. The cost of the project is still unknown and won't be calculated until an underwater survey of the bottom of the ship occurs.

"I wanted to find a way to help kicking off on the Fourth of July, Save our Sullivans," Davidson said. "If you're not a drinker, you can still contribute."

The campaign began Wednesday and will last approximately one month.
