At a daily press briefing on Monday, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that the White House would not rule out taking legal steps to suspend Habeas corpus and posse comitatus and as federal troops head to the U.S./Mexican border.

Habeas corpus is the legal precedent that requires that every person arrested appear before a judge. Posse comitatus is the legal precedent that prevents federal troops from carrying out domestic law enforcement.

Sanders' comments come as a caravan of migrants continues to walk toward the U.S./Mexican border. The caravan is still weeks away from reaching the United States.

More on this as it develops.
