The family of a patient sexually assaulted at a Valley healthcare facility is giving more insight into her condition.

A statement released by the family's attorney Tuesday says, "The victim’s parents would like to make clear that their daughter is not in a coma. She has significant intellectual disabilities as a result of seizures very early in her childhood."

She is reportedly able to move her limbs, head and neck, make facial gestures and respond to sound.

"The important thing is that she is a beloved daughter, albeit with significant intellectual disabilities. She has feelings, likes to be read to, enjoys soft music, and is capable of responding to people she is familiar with, especially family," the statement read

The family did not give any updates on the condition of the woman's baby who was delivered in December.

On Monday, an announcement was made saying two Hacienda Healthcare physicians who were responsible for providing care to the sexual assault victim are no longer providing medical services to patients.

The State of Arizona's Healthcare Cost System (AHCCCS) released one of the doctor's Notice of Suspension Tuesday afternoon.

The document states, Dr. Thanh Nguyen was suspended because they believe one or more patients would be endangered if left in Nguyen's care. The Notice also states the doctor failed to comply with federal or state laws or regulations.

Officials say the suspension will remain in place until further investigation.

An internal review of Hacienda Healthcare is currently underway but there is no known time frame for the results.
