Parts of Florida's Atlantic coast was placed under a Hurricane Warning Tuesday evening as Hurricane Matthew churns past Haiti and Cuba.

Packing 130 MPH winds as of the 11 p.m. advisory, the hurricane has already killed at least eight in Haiti. The once category 5 hurricane has maintained at least category 4 status since last Friday.

It is expected to maintain at least category 3 status as the storm moves past the Bahamas on Wednesday, and toward Florida on Thursday.

The Hurricane Warning is in effect from Golden Beach to Sebastian Inlet. The Florida Keys and Miami area were also placed under Tropical Storm Warnings.

The storm is forecast to make a close approach to Florida's east coast on Thursday. By Friday, the storm is supposed to maintain hurricane status as it rides the east coast toward the Carolinas.
