BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Independent Health will implement a company-wide work-from-home policy beginning Monday, March 16.
“We made the decision on Friday (March 13) to implement our work-from-home policy as part of our responsibility to the community to contain the spread of the virus and ‘flatten the curve,’” said Michael W. Cropp, president and CEO, Independent Health.
The term 'flatten the curve' has been used to describe slowing the spread of COVID-19 so that hospitals don't get overwhelmed.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz have asked companies to have employees work from home if possible.
Independent Health will also provide coverage for members' COVID-19 testing and treatment.
