The National Comedy Center will be opening their doors to customers on Wednesday, August 1st in Jamestown. The 37,000 square foot facility will be the first of its kind in the entire country.

"It has immersive storytelling, interactivity and then we ground the experience in physical artifacts so you can stand in the presence of some of the greatest comedians of all time" National Comedy Center Executive Director Journey Gunderson said.

Almost everything in the center is interactive with the use of touch screens.

"If people come all the way to Jamestown we need to make this engaging and immersive in a way that is so much more than what they can find online" Gunderson said.

The opening of the center is during the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, where comedians like Amy Schumer and Lewis Black will be performing.

"We really hoped along the way this would become the nations destination for comedy" Gunderson said.

If that is the case, there are huge advantages for Jamestown according to Gunderson.

"The economic impact is projected to be 20 million dollars a year."
