Zoo keepers at the Buffalo Zoo have finally been able to get close to enough to find out the gender of their new baby gorilla and... it's a boy!
Now zoo keepers are asking for the public's help in naming him. There are three options:
- Kayin (means "celebrated child" in the Yoruba language.)
- K.J. (Koga Jr.)
- Mossaka (a city in the Republic of Congo. Nickname "Mo.")
The baby was born on January 10 to mother, 18-year-old Sydney, and father, 28-year-old Koga. Sydney was so protective of her baby that until now, zoo keepers have not been able to get close enough to find out whether the baby was a boy or a girl.
The zoo will announce the winning name during their "APEril" Zooper Saturday event on April 2.
