Mysterious headstone found in Orchard Park neighborhood

A mysterious headstone in Orchard Park appeared out of nowhere and now it has neighbors scratching their heads.

Donna Fallon lives on Woodhaven Road, near where the headstone was found. A man using a metal detector came across it in the dirt. He made the discovery just days after a construction crew out down a small forest of trees on the property.

“It had written on it David Folsom and it says lived 85 years,” Fallon said.

Like many neighbors Fallon thinks there could be an unmarked cemetery on the property or maybe someone moved the grave marker from a cemetery in the woods behind her neighbor’s house.

“I can’t say one way or the other. My children who have been to the cemetery multiple times as growing up there. They say they don’t remember a David Folsom,” Fallon said.

Neighbors said teens are known for going into the woods to party and play paintball. Fallon is concerned. She hopes Orchard Park will find out where the headstone came from.

“If there is a grave site down there, it will have to be protected,” Fallon said.

Town leaders are now trying to figure out if there is in fact a gravesite on the property or if the headstone somehow found its way out in the vacant lot.
