For almost two years, Jonah Epstein has been asking Western New Yorkers what they want in a beer, and on Tuesday at World of Beer in the Galleria Mall, the final decision was made.
Epstein first dreamed up MyCity Brew as part of a business competition while he was away at college and now the Western New York Native says Buffalo is the ideal place to start his new business.
"I think there's no better city than Buffalo to launch a company like this in," says Epstein. "We're just a beer loving city, so I figured, why should we choose the beer? We're going to let the community choose."
An estimated 300 beer lovers headed out to World of Beer at the Galleria Mall to vote for one of the four finalists in the MyCity Brewing process. Taste testers had to choose between four finalists to decide what beer will be brewed for people to enjoy across Western New York.
"After tonight we're going into full scale production," said Epstein. "You'll be able to see our beer at all different stores and bars across Buffalo."
MyCity Brew is expected to announce the winner on Wednesday, and the first batch of the new beer, which will be named Byson Brown, in honor of Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, should be available this spring.
