Buffalo native and member of The Goo Goo Dolls, Robby Takac's Music is Art festival returned for the 16th year Saturday.

“When we started it was just about activating the music community, right now it’s abut energizing them, you know, they’re activated man, now it’s about giving them forum, this is a very large canvas for people to celebrate their creativity on," Takac said.

The event welcomes over 150 bands, over 100 artists and 7 dozen DJ's.

“Well Buffalo’s always had a very rich music culture for sure...This is fertile soil for creative people right now," Takac said. “It takes a lot of heart and it takes a lot of people who understand the importance of the creative community to make something like this happen.”

Music is Art was formed to change the impact music has on the culture, society and education in Buffalo.

“This is our first show, so from here we’re going to keep trying moving up," Moses Marquez of Ill Theory said. “This is about the diversity and bringing everybody together as a group that’s what music is.”
