Motorcyclist pinned under car after hitting deer

A motorcyclist is being treated for serious injuries after striking a deer and then colliding with another vehicle.

The accident happened Friday morning in the Town of Evans just before 7:30 a.m.. Investigators say the motorcyclist was headed eastbound on Route 5 near the New Era Cap Company when the operator hit a deer. The driver then slide into the westbound lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

The operator of the motorcycle was trapped under the car before being freed by police and firefighters. That person was then taken to ECMC by Mercy Flight.

Route 5 was closed for about three hours. The accident remains under investigation by the Evans Police Department.
