The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says a motorcycle driver who was trying to flee from police had to be air lifted to the hospital after he crashed.
Police say deputies tried to pull over the 30-year-old driver around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. That's when they say he took off on Route 430 in the Town of Ellery, and the deputies lost site of him. Eventually police say they found debris in the road and realized the motorcycle had crashed. The driver was flown by Starflight to Hamot Hospital to be treated.
Police say the crash is under investigation and charges are pending. The driver of the motorcycle was last listed in stable condition.
