Officials say at least 126 people were killed during an attack on a military-run school in Pakistan.

Most of the victims are children. Dozens more are wounded.

It occurred at a military-run school in the city of Peshawar, located in the northwestern region of the country.

Mohammad Khurasani, a spokesman for the Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Khuarani told the media that six suicide bombers entered the school to take revenge on the Pakistani government who killed Taliban members.

The school runs from grades first through tenth. About one-thousand students attend the school.

The violence is still ongoing. The attackers and Pakistani troopers are exchanging gunfire.
