Two teens remain hospitalized after a serious crash in the Town of Sardinia Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at the intersection of Genesee Road and Route 16. around 1:15 p.m.

Investigators believe the crash happened as the tractor trailer, which was headed east on Genesee, failed to stop and collided with the SUV, which was headed south on Rt. 16.

A mother and two teens were pulled from the SUV and taken to ECMC.

The mother was treated and released from the hospital.

The front seat passenger (a teen boy) sustained multiple broken bones and a head injury; he remains in ECMC.

The teen girl who was trapped in the backseat for quite some time, was taken to ECMC.  She is in serious condition.

The tractor trailer driver was not hurt.

An official cause of the crash is under investigation.

The driver of the semi will be interviewed today by the Erie County Sheriff's Office – charges are pending.
