Mom says daughter was "Fat Shamed" at Dillard's

What looks like your typical 13-year-old girl trying on a dress for a middle school dance is actually causing a firestorm online.

Megan Naramore-Harris is fighting back after she says a salesperson at a Kansas Dillard's told her daughter, Lexi, she was too big for the gown, and that she should wear Spanx, a compression garment, to properly fit in the outfit.

Megan says she and the employee argued about what kind of message this sends about self-image.

Dillard's released a statement saying:

"At Dillard's, our mission is to help people feel good about themselves by enhancing the natural beauty found in all of us. It is certainly never our intent to offend customers."

The family says they have no ill will against the employee, but wanted to share their experience online.
