Windsong Radiology has received a grant from the New York State Department of Health to provide life-saving exams.

With a mobile mammography unit, Windsong Radiology can provide care in communities with limited access to breast cancer screenings. The company is working with churches, community and healthcare partners to  improve the screening rates of Western New York.

Women in underserved and never-before-served communities in Allegany, Erie, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Wyoming, Genesee. Niagara and Orleans counties can get a 3D mammography or digital breast tomosynthesis. The mobile unit can only provide screenings, not diagnostics or treatment.

Markus Holzhauer, M.D., Director of Mobile Mammography at Windsong Radiology Group, PC stated, “Breast cancer screening gives us the ability to detect cancer early. Early detection of cancer when it is most easily treated can help preserve quality of life,” he added.

The mobile unit is connecting and reconnecting women with being advocates of their own health. Doctors recommend getting a mammogram every year after the age of 40.

Providers at Windsong Radiology can advise you on insurance coverage, as well as options if you aren't covered by insurance.

Nearly 130 locations have been identified for 2018 for the unit to visit, with many more being planned. If you would like to work with the mobile mammo team to plan an event for your clinic or community organization, please contact Jamie Stasiak at 716. 929.9494 or email jstasiak@windsongradiology.com .
