A teenager is in custody after fleeing from a sheriff's deputy and crashing a vehicle in the Town of Clarence on Sunday.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office says a deputy observed a suspicious vehicle in the Eastern Hills parking lot, and conducted a traffic stop.

Deputies say the 17-year-old driver, who had a revoked license, then sped out of the parking lot and headed eastbound on Sheridan Drive.

The patrol vehicle and the other vehicle began a pursuit which ended when the suspect lost control and struck a tree on Lapp Road in the Town of Clarence, according to deputies.

The suspect was taken to Erie County Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, and then released back to the sheriff's office.

The teenager was charged with seven misdemeanors and 16 traffic violations, and was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending an arraignment.
