The NYS DOT has canceled the massive roundabout project proposed for the intersection at US Route 20 and NY Route 60 in the Village of Fredonia.
The repeal results from the State Supreme Court lawsuit filed by local McDonald's owner and operator Enrico Francani, who challenged NYSDOT's determination that the roundabout would not have an environmental impact. Francani's lawsuit also highlighted plans that benefited neighboring businesses while penalizing Mickey D's location.
The NYSDOT had planned to replace the intersection's traffic signal with a large roundabout and medians that would prevent left turns from highways into various businesses, including Francani's McDonald's on 500 East Main Street.
NYSDOT has now agreed to pursue the required environmental review. But has not announced a timeline to revise its plans for the busy intersection.
