Today the McQuaid Jesuit High School rowing crew started their long course from Buffalo to Albany.

The Rochester Catholic school students are trekking down the Erie Canal for the sixth consecutive year a 340-mile trip that will take eight days to complete. They shoved off from the University at Buffalo Boathouse on Brenon Road in Amherst Veterans Canal Park.

Their trek comes to an end at Waterford Canal Welcome Center in Waterford, New York, just outside Albany.

The students plan on rowing anywhere from 40 to 60 miles per day to raise money and awareness for Holy Childhood, a non-denominational, non-profit agency that helps people with developmental challenges.
