Man walks away from plane crash with only minor injuries

Posted

Owner and CEO of PW Minor, a Batavia shoe company, was flying a plane when it caught fire at a small airport in Michigan Monday night.

Livingston County sheriff's officials in Michigan say the pilot, Peter Zeliff, was the only person aboard when the plane went off the runway at the Livingston County Spencer J. Hardy Airport near Howell. He escaped with only minor injuries.

Howell Mayor Nick Proctor, who saw the plane crash, told WHMI-FM the plane went through a fence, ripping off the wings and causing it to catch fire.

Proctor and others helped the pilot. The incident is being investigated - it is unclear what caused the plane to steer off the runway.
