Erie County Sheriff's Office says two people were arrested Wednesday after deputies found heroin during a traffic stop.

Deputies say Jamie Wilson, 47, was stopped on Route 16 around 11:20 p.m. and fled into the woods.

During the pursuit, a deputy says Wilson threw something onto the ground that a Sheriff's K9 Unit later found to be packages of heroin.

The passenger, Jenna Shoup, 26, was placed in custody during the pursuit.

Investigators say both are charged with criminal possession of heroin and drug-related misdemeanor charges. Wilson is also charged with a felony count of destroying evidence and misdemeanor counts of obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, and various vehicle and traffic violations.

Wilson and Shoup are being held at the Erie County Holding Center until their arraignment in Holland Town Court.
