A man is now in custody after he allegedly struck another individual with a hammer during an altercation.
The Genesee County Sheriff's Office reports Paul Hoffman of Alabama hit the other person with a hammer, choked them to the point of unconsciousness and prevented the person from leaving.
Hoffman allegedly called 911 requesting medical attention for the individual due to a reported unknown medical condition following the incident.
Further investigation led deputies to charge him with Assault, Strangulation and Unlawful Imprisonment all in the second degree.
He remains in Genesee County Jail on $75,000 bail.
The victim was treated at the hospital and released.
