Man rips off Social Security after parents die

A Lancaster man admits he stole more than $100,000 from the Social Security Administration after both of his parents passed away.

Federal prosecutors say Kevin Quinn never notified Social Security of his father's death in 1996 and his mother's death in 1998. As a result, social security checks continued to be deposited into a join savings account in the name of his parents.

Quinn used the ATM card for the account to withdraw money and spend it.  Investigators say he helped himself to $134,213 between March 1996 and March 2014.

A federal judge has sentenced Quinn to three years probation, including a year of home incarceration. He must also repay the Social Security Administration all the money he stole.
