A Buffalo man stopped for speeding ended up with felony charges when police saw a loaded handgun on the floor of his car.

City of Tonawanda Police say Joseph Cole, 35, was speeding on Main Street when he was stopped. The Lieutenant who made the stop noticed the gun in the back of the car and found it fully loaded with an additional nine rounds in the clip.

Officers say the serial numbers on the gun were defaced.

Cole was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a weapon defaced for concealment, criminal possession of a weapon previous conviction, and a vehicle traffic charge.

Police say the handgun was unpermitted and Cole was not allowed to have a gun.
