Man dies after being struck by car Friday night in Amherst

At approximately 11:10 p.m. Friday evening, Amherst police responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a car while crossing the road in the 1300 block of Maple Road. 

Police identified the pedestrian as Jeffery Lyons, 68 of Williamsville. Lyons suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

He was hit by John Murray, of Amherst, who was operating a 2005 Chevrolet, according to authorities. 

Getzville Fire Department and Twin City Ambulance assisted at the scene. No charges have been filed, and the case remains under investigation.
