Tonawanda Police have charged a Buffalo man with picking up a 15-year-old boy and throwing him into the Erie Canal at Canal Fest.

Investigators say a female approached Austin Terry, 20, around 7:30 p.m. last night and told Terry the teen was "harassing her." Terry then picked up the teen, carried him to the break wall near the Delaware Street bridge and threw him in, according to police.

The teen swam to a nearby boat. An officer on ATV patrol saw what happened and immediately took Terry into custody.

Terry is charged with reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child, harassment, and possession of marijuana.
