A Cuban national was sentenced Wednesday after he was caught at the border with forged credit cards.
District Attorney John Flynn says 34- year-old Deladier Benitez, who is living in Miami, was sentenced to 364 days in jail. He pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in December 2016.
In a border search at the Peace Bridge on October 11, officials found Benitez to have 73 forged credit cards and a forged Ohio driver's license. The DA says he was trying to cross the border from the United States into Canada.
