A man who was kicked and slapped while in handcuffs by a former Buffalo police officer in 2014 was swept up in drug raids Thursday.
John Willet is one of five people who was arrested in a series of search warrant executions.
Three handguns, heroin, ecstasy, cocaine, and marijuana were seized during the raids.
Police say warrants were conducted at two addresses in the 800 block of Woodlawn Avenue, the first block of Greeley Avenue, the first block of Wilbury Place and in the 100 block of Old Lyme Road in Amherst.
Charges range from criminal possession of narcotics to criminal possession of a weapon.
Willet was beaten by a police officerwhile he was in custody in April 2014. 7 Eyewitness News obtained cell phone video that captured the assault. That police officer has since resigned.
Thursday's executions were a multi-jurisdictional effort between the Buffalo Police Narcotics division, SWAT, Erie County Sheriff's, and NFTA police.
