Halloween continues to grow in popularity with Americans expected to spend $9 billion on the holiday this year.
Kids are not the only ones dressing up, many adults enjoy wearing costumes for parties and "trick-or-treating" with their children.
However, the cost of adult costumes can be expensive, especially when you factor-in all the needed accessories.
Lynn Dejac, head customer at DC Theatricks, said she is seeing more customers try renting costumes after having bad experiences buying outfits online.
The biggest complaint is online-bought costumes often don't reflect the website picture because additional accessories need to be purchased.
Poor fit and inferior quality are other issues Dejac is hearing from people who shop online.
Is renting an adult costume cheaper than buying everything online?
Dejac told 7 Eyewitness News Reporter Ed Reilly that rented costumes generally go for half of what a complete adult costume would cost online with all the accessories.
DC Theatricks creates costumes for local theater groups, schools and individuals. All its costume rental prices include accessories, Dejac explained.
This Halloween, 1920's "flappers" and "gangsters" are in big demand, said Dejac, who said she rents complete "flapper" outfits for $45 - which would sell for around $95 if bought online.
"For a one-time use costume, renting makes more sense because it is cheaper and our costumes are made to hold up for stage use. That way they won't fall apart in a couple of hours, like a bagged costume can," added Dejac.
Reporter Ed Reilly has more on this in his report.
