NFTA training delays return of cars to Main St

Main Street in downtown Buffalo is still closed after years of construction. This has business owners concerned.

City officials said the construction has been completed since October but they are waiting on the NFTA to finish its employee training. The NFTA said it is all about safety at this point.

Train crews have to learn new safety procedures before the train can share the road with cars.

Business owners say they hope that the results of this construction will be worth the wait and the money lost during this time.

“It is inconvenient on the road and pedestrian traffic is down because of construction, as well,” Chris Berardi said.

There is no set date as to when the road will open. In the meantime, shop owners want the public to know they are open for business.
