Long-time Buffalo News publisher dead at 89

Long-time Buffalo News publisher Stan Lipsey died Tuesday morning at his home in Rancho Mirage California.  He was 89.

Lipsey ran the Buffalo News for owner Warren Buffet for 29 years after selling Buffet's Berkshire-Hathaway Corporation,  his own small newspaper chain in Omaha in the early 1970's. 

Lipsey became a champion promoter of Buffalo and Western New York and was the driving force in numerous charity and social fundraising events here for decades.

The long-time newspaper man retired to California in 2012, he leaves behind his wife, a son and a daughter.  A memorial service will be held in Buffalo at a furture date.
