Along with the nicer weather in Western New York, now comes the annual surge in car break-ins and police are warning people to lock their vehicles.
Police in the Town of Cheektowaga report a big increase in the number of vehicle break-ins of cars both in private driveways and parked on the street. Most of the incidents are taking place in the dark early morning hours when people are still asleep in their beds.
In almost all the cases, the vehicles targeted by vandals were left un-locked overnight and most of the robberies have happened in the Union Road/Genesee Street/George Urban Blvd. area.
Police are warning motorists to never leave any valuables inside their cars or trucks and always make sure they are locked when not in use.
