As Western New Yorkers know, the Southtowns are usually the hardest hit by lake effect snow bands, but there is a group of Good Samaritans ready and willing to step in to help anyone who gets stuck in messy conditions.
Charles Noecker and the Southtowns 4x4 Recovery Team take the ‘City of Good Neighbors’ to a new level.
In bad weather, the group travels around the Southtowns in their trucks looking for vehicles that have become stuck. If they find one, they will pull the vehicle out of the snow at no cost.
“We just want to help people,” said Noecker. “Find that one person in the ditch and help them. That’s a great feeling.”
The Southtowns 4x4 Recovery Team is a 100-percent volunteer group and filled with drivers from all over the area. They have a Facebook page where they can receive tips on where drivers may be stuck.
