The preliminary round of on-stage spelling started Wednesday at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Nearly 300 spellers took the stage and after 10 hours of spelling, 45 spellers are advancing to the finals. A full list of finalists can be found here.
Fifteen-year-old Santino Panzica from West Falls, N.Y. correctly spelled 'myoglobin' in the second round and 'prorogue' in the third round.
Unfortunately, Panzica was eliminated from the finals because he didn't have enough points when combined with his written test scores.
