Hollywood Week on American Idol starts Monday night and one of the singers with a coveted golden ticket hails from Western New York!

West Seneca native Erika Hill says she's been auditioning for talent shows like American Idol for years.

"So this isn't a particularly new process for me, but it's always been something I've wanted to pursue," Hill told AM Buffalo Host Courtney Corbetta, "And why not? You never know the outcome."

Even though Hill has performed in a lot of auditions, she said she was still nervous when it came time to face the judges.

"A lot of emotions, a lot of anxiety, a lot of nerves, but the adrenaline rush is enough to get you through it alone."

This season's judges are Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. All three are successful singers and performers, so Hill described meeting them and singing in front of them as nothing short of surreal.

"Just to sing in front of legends is bananas," Hill said. "It's crazy."

Hill performed Grace Potter's "Paris" during her audition.

Sunday, Hill posted an announcement about Hollywood Week on Facebook and thanked supporters for their encouragement.

American Idol airs Sunday and Monday nights at 8 p.m.
