According to the Batavia News, a massive manhunt for a court escapee has caused Attica and Alexander schools to go on lockdown.
Dylan J. Perry, 25-year-old of Varysburg, was arrested early Friday morning after found sleeping in a building in Bennington.
The owner of the building called police. Perry was then taken into custody and charged with criminal trespassing and aggravated unlicensed operation.
Perry was taken to the Attica Village Court for arraignment, but then ran out of the court room, front door, and headed north on Water Street -- shackled at the waist.
Police then swarmed the village and its outskirts, according to the Batavia News.
As a result, police ordered Attica and Alexander schools be put on lockdown. Officials said the schools were put on lockdown as a precaution and that Perry was not considered dangerous.
As of noon today, Perry has not yet been found.
He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a white T-shirt. Again, Perry is cuffed with shackles at the waist.
Perry's prior run-ins with the law includes: an arrest for stealing checks and jewelry from a house and an arrest for having brass knuckles.
Anyone who sees or has any information on Perry should call 911.
