BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Wyoming County deputies have arrested a man and charged him with criminally negligent homicide.

Deputies say Jacob E. Putnam refused to call for help after a 23-year-old woman stopped breathing. They suspect she had overdosed.

When deputies arrived at the scene, after a third party called 911, they found the woman dead.

They were called to 6070 Michigan Road in the Town of Arcade.

Putnam took off running, according to deputies, as crews were pulling up to the scene.

Putnam had two active warrants out for his arrest. Deputies say he led them on a chase.

Once he was taken into custody, deputies say Putnam had drugs and drug paraphernalia on him, along with an imitation hand gun.

He's also facing charges of criminal sale of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

Putnam is locked up in the Wyoming County Jail without bail because of prior convictions.

There's no word on when he's due back in court.
