GAINESVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Wyoming County man has been charged with animal cruelty, tampering with evidence, falsely reporting an incident and criminal mischief after allegedly killing an acquaintance's dog and trying to pin the crime on someone else.

The Wyoming County Sheriff's Office says Wade Remington, 45, killed the dog, damaged the tires of the dog owners vehicle and then reported the crimes to police but blamed a third party for it. Remington is also accused of planting evidence at the scene of the crime to make it look like the third party was actually responsible.

Investigators say they uncovered the truth of the matter after Remington reported the incident to police on October 27th.

Remington has been arraigned and released. An order of protection was issued for the victims in the case. Remington is due back in court in early November.
