BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Shovels are in the ground to begin work on a new fitness center at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

The 914th Air Refueling Wing hosted a ground-breaking ceremony Wednesday morning.

The $11.3 million facility is being built on the installation and will replace the existing fitness building with one that is more modern and designed to meet the need of today's Airmen.

The facility was once on the chopping block.
