Woman rescued after falling into lower Niagara River

NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario (WKBW) — Emergency services in Niagara Falls, Ontario say a woman in her thirties was rescued after she fell into the lower Niagara River near the whirlpool.

Authorities say the woman was rescued by members of the Niagara Falls Fire Department around 4 p.m. Sunday.

Firefighters were able to bring her to shore and she was later assessed and released by Niagara EMS.

Parks police in Niagara Falls say she's been charged under the Trespass to Property Act.
