BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — The trial for 23-year-old Nateonna Roland was supposed to start Monday morning in State Supreme Court, but instead the defendant decided to plead guilty to a manslaughter charge.

Prosecutors say Roland stabbed her boyfriend, 21-year-old Brendan Benjamin, during an argument on East Eagle Street in Downtown Buffalo last July.

The victim was taken to Buffalo General Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Roland faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when she is sentenced on March 13.

She continues to remain held without bail.
