NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Police say it was on the corner of 20th and Centre Streets in the Falls when a 25-year-old woman was shot and killed while getting into her car. It happened moments after she stopped to pay her respects to another shooting victim.

“I thought she had been ran over then, they told me she had got shot. I thought, ‘who shoots a girl’,” said one neighbor.

Neighbors say the woman came almost daily to light a candle in memory of 24-year-old Clyde Coleman who was shot behind the infamous red house in Highland Avenue earlier this month. Coleman’s killer is still on the loose.

“The climate has really shifted and changed a lot in our city,” said Donta Miles of the Niagara Falls Peacemakers.

This shooting marks the 14th homicide so far this year in the Falls. More than a quarter of those homicides happened in the past 30 days. Four people have been killed in the month of September… two of the victims have been women.

Police have made no arrests in any case.

Police have not yet released the victim’s name in last night’s homicide.

Anyone with information on this case or any other is asked to contact the Niagara Falls police department.
