MIDDLEPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — Joanne Kugler of Middleport says she was shocked to see a huge withdrawal from her bank account for her health insurance.

“It’s got to be a mistake,” she said.

Kugler says United Healthcare debited $522 more than her $40 a month payment. She says each month, she authorizes the withdrawal but not that much.

“I did not authorize anything to that amount of money,” she said.

In fact, other customers are turning to Twitter to get answers from the company.

Kugler says she was on hold with United Healthcare for more than an hour, and spoke with a customer service representative who says United is aware of the problem but is still investigating.

She says the most frightening part—officials don’t have a timeline on when that money will be refunded.

“I feel bad for the people who aren’t on the internet to check their account,” she said. “A lot of these people don’t know that United took money out.”

We are waiting for a statement from United Healthcare.
