NEW YORK (WKBW) — The VA Western NY Healthcare System announced it is taking steps to prevent and minimize any potential coronavirus exposure at its facilities.

In a statement to 7 Eyewitness News a spokesperson for the VA Western NY Healthcare System says the health and safety of Veterans and all who enter the facilities is of utmost importance to them:

"To minimize any potential exposure, we’ve limited access to our facilities to one entrance for Veterans and visitors where screening questions will be asked; in Buffalo, the Outpatient entrance and in Batavia, Building 4, Patio Entrance. In addition, out of an abundance of caution, we’re temporarily suspending groups and other activities in our facilities. This includes limiting visitation to our Community Living Centers. We’ll provide updates as they become available."

The VA Western NY Healthcare System website also says if you have a fever, cough or shortness of breath to please stay home and contact your primary care provider.
