TOWN OF HAMBURG, N.Y. (WKBW) — People living along the lake shore in the Town of Hamburg are bracing for another surge of strong wings overnight Thursday.

The winds aren’t forecasted to be nearly as strong as the October storm that caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to homes along the lake shore.

Still, residents living there are planning to have to spend some time on repairs since their only line of defense was destroyed last month.

“In direct contrast to what that storm brought the weekend before Hallowen is people’s seawalls and infrastructure to protect their homes were in place,” said Town of Hamburg emergency services manager Sean Crotty.

“However, all that is now damaged subsequent to the storm on Halloween.”

Not even sandbags will hold up to the power of the storm, said Crotty.

“You prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. We can’t really prepare enough for this.”

Emergency services has a plan in place to help direct traffic and check on residents living in the area.
