BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — There is a grassroots effort to help put an end to this violent summer here in the Queen City.

A rally was held Saturday at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park to help spread the word that peace is needed here in Buffalo.

Over the last two months, violent crime has increased throughout the city.

Protesters are calling on everyone in the city to put an end to the violence.

The rally was organized by the group We Pump 716.

Organizer Stevo Johnson said, "Basically we come here to talk about the East Side. And improving the conditions on the east side today. It's a cease fire rally. Today we're asking everyone in Buffalo who is using illegal guns, to put the guns down."
