BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The 17-year-old boy who captivated the nation when he asked firehouses from all over the world to send him their sweaters has beat cancer. Timothy Richardson has been battling Leukemia since March 1, 2018, but today that battle has ended. Richardson celebrated by ringing the bell.

"That was the end of the hardest thing that anyone could go through," he said.

A year ago today, Richardson was also given a bone marrow transplant that helped save his life making August 16 a memorable day for him and his family. Now that Richardson's battle with cancer is over, his future plans are to finish high school and become a professional firefighter.
