BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Bills haven't played on Thanksgiving since the 1994. Twenty five years later, the team faces the Dallas Cowboys at 3 p.m. Thursday, which has some bars opening their doors on the holiday.

"Thanksgiving happens every year, but Buffalo only plays on Thanksgiving once in a blue moon," said Ted Gioia, a Mr. Goodbar patron.

That's exactly why Mr. Goodbar and J.P. Fitzgerald's are opening at 3 p.m. Thursday.

"It's going to be crazy. [J.P. Fitzgerald's] is so loyal to their Bills fans. These people are so dedicated to their Bills fans," Bob Waterfield, a J.P. Fitzgerald's patron, said.

Bars have been preparing for the Bills to take on the Cowboys.

"We're normally closed but people were getting very excited about the Bills game especially with their last win," said J.P. Fitzgerald's bar manager Aaron Tomaschko.

"We normally don't open on Thanksgiving at all but with the Bills playing, it's the best place to watch the Bills game besides the stadium so we want to make sure everyone can watch in a great atmosphere," Brad Thomas, the bar manager at Mr. Goodbar said.

So if you want to bring your family or leave them at home, there will be plenty of places to join the Bills family on Thanksgiving.

"This is one family so that's why I think he does open for that reason. Because it's family," said Waterfield.
